THE COIN SNAP 图文教学

THE COIN SNAP 图文教学 魔术网站www.deh.cn

The magician places a coin in her left hand, snaps her right fingers and the coin vanishes. The left hand is closed again, the right fingers snapped again and the left hand opened to show the coin has reappeared.

Setup

A small coin is required. In U.S. currency this would be a nickel or quarter. It is a good idea to borrow the coin.

Handling

The coin is held between the right thumb and first finger tips, displayed face-on to the spectators.
The coin is placed in the left hand and is concealed momentarily by the left fingers.
The coin is snapped sideways and is now hidden by the thumb and first finger tips.

As left hand supposedly closes around the coin, the right hand moves away.
The closed left hand moves forward and up slightly, the right hand shifts the coin to finger palm position and moves over the top of the left hand to snap the fingers over it.
The left hand opens to show the coin has vanished. The right hands remains close to the left hand.

Under view of the finger palmed coin.
The right hand moves left as the left hand begins to close and turn over to the right. The finger palmed coin is released by the right fingers and drops into the left hand during these movements.
After again snapping the right fingers over the closed left hand, the left hand turns up and opens to show the coin has reappeared.

Performance

Display the coin in your right hand, holding it by the edges between the ball of the thumb and the ball of the right index finger. Curl the other right fingers slightly into the right palm.

Face the spectator, displaying the coin, the right hand between waist and chest height and directly in front of the body.

Raise the left hand, palm up, fingers together and curled up just a bit. The left hand stops when it is just to the left of the right hand. Move the right hand to the left until the right index finger rests on the left palm at the base of the left fingers.

Begin to curl the left fingers up. At the same time, press down on the top edge of the coin with the right thumb. This will pressure will cause it the bottom edge of the coin to slide back off the right finger. Continue this downward pressure and the coin will now be held pinched between the right thumb and index finger: edge on to the spectator with the edge concealed by the thumb and finger.

Withdraw the pinched right thumb and finger as the left hand continues to close. The coin will not be visible in the right hand and the spectator will presume it is in the closed left hand.

Raise the closed left hand, turning to head so your eyes can follow its upward movement. At the same time lower the right hand a few inches, letting the coin fall down into the curled fingers of the right hand so that it lands at the base of the third right finger. Curl this finger in to hold the coin.

Now raise the right hand up over the closed left hand and snap the right thumb and second finger. Pull the right hand back and open the left hand slowly to show that the coin has vanished.

Almost without pause, the right hand, back up, passes over the left hand and the left hand closes and rotates to the right so that it is back up. As the right hand passes over the left hand, the coin is allowed to drop into the left hand. This must be done very smoothly and without hesitation.

At the end of the motion described above the right hand is now over the down turned and closed left hand. Snap the right fingers again over the left hand.

Pull the right hand back to the right and rotate the closed left hand up and over to the left so that the left fingers are up, then slowly open the left hand to show the coin has reappeared in the hand.

Performance Notes

Once you have the sleight down the entire effect becomes choreography. It cannot be performed too fast, but it must be done in one nearly continuous series of motions so that the spectator has no chance to consider any possibilities until the effect is over.

The snapping of the fingers is what makes the magic happen, you should visualize the illusion from this perspective as you perform it.
